Asima is the founder and owner of Sona Legal LLC, a forward-thinking legal practice focusing on employment law for management.
With an impressive legal career dedicated to providing strategic advice, representation, and training on employment-related matters, Asima has established herself as a leading authority in her field. Her practice includes comprehensive services aimed at empowering management teams to navigate the complexities of employment-related matters effectively.
Prior to establishing Sona Legal, Asima honed her skills at AmLaw 100 firms Blank Rome LLP and Jackson Lewis P.C. During her tenure, she was instrumental in providing clients with nuanced advice, counseling, and representation in litigation across all aspects of employment law. Asima’s expertise in drafting and negotiating employment agreements and policies, combined with her ability to conduct insightful workplace training, has distinguished her as a trusted advisor in the field. Asima has been recognized for her professional accomplishments in Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” Labor and Employment Law – Management and Litigation; Super Lawyers "Pennsylvania Rising Star" Employment Litigation: Defense; and the legal intelligencer’s "Lawyers on the Fast Track."
A member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the South Asian Bar Association and a former member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder Program, Asima’s commitment to the legal profession and her community is evident in her work and accolades.
Asima graduated from Hamilton College and Penn State Law. During law school, Asima served as Managing Editor of Articles for the Penn State Journal of Law and International Affairs, and was a member of the Civil Rights Appellate Clinic, where she received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award. Asima led the clinic’s efforts in researching and writing an amicus brief filed with the United States Supreme Court in a Title VII retaliation case on behalf of twenty civil rights and advocacy groups. Additionally, she served as a legal intern for the Legal Aid Society in Jamaica, New York.
